Coloring Perma Gloss

Anyone have any experience with adding color and /or glitter to U-40 Perma Gloss? I want to paint some “show” rods with two colors and if practical, add some “sparkle” to the butt suction. I have not seen anything on Rodbuilding.org about painting with color except for using Dupil Coat and Krylon Fusion. There are not enough colors of Krylon Fusion available to me & using Dupil Coat gets pretty expensive, but I may have to go that way.

If you have colored Perma Gloss, what did you use for coloring?

I am currently experimenting with automotive paint, but have not been able to completely eliminate the fish eyes.

Will the glitter sold by Mud Hole work in an air brush?

Permagloss is very difficult to color and you'll never get it opaque without seriously affecting its properties.

Tom is absolutely right about the color. You might however be able to add glitter by using something like a salt shaker and sprinkling the first coat and when dry apply 2 or 3 more coats.

I should have sad to sprinkle when the first coat is still wet so it will adhere.

I have added Barlows worm glitter to Permagloss with sucess, however sucessive coats of Pemagloss without glitter will be needed to get a totally smooth finish. Lynn
