I've read in STS that for bank float fishing a slow action rod is best for getting the rig farther out into the river. Will be using flies and spawn.
Any suggestions for a fly blank at 14' or close enough that I can extend it to 14'? Cost is an issue as well. Would like to keep it at under $100. Thanks, guys. Re: slow action blank for steelhead

Check out the nice Spey blanks at Anglers Roost in the sponsors column, I just purchased 2 very nice blanks from them. Great quality for the money. Re: slow action blank for steelhead

Are you looking for a float blank for a center pin or spinning rig? Since you listed spawn that would be my guess. That being the case there are plenty of 13-15 float blanks in production that would not require extending. Batson, MHX, CTS, St Croix to name a few. Re: slow action blank for steelhead

Noodle rods which are the slow action rods are not the best for handling fish. Greater chance of killing them due to the stresses placed on them.
Better choices would be the float or centerpin blanks with a moderate action. Rolly Beenen Rovic Custom Rods Re: slow action blank for steelhead
