Travel tubes

Anyone have a source for inexpensive aluminum tubing for making travel rod tubes? I want to cut a slot in the tubing so I can pass it beyond the reel stem on a spinning rod. I'll use short velcro straps over the cut slot to hold the tube in place.
I have developed a propensity for breaking rod tips (3 last year!).

Another note: Hey MICHIGAN! See you at the April RoundUp.

I don't think there is any inexpensive aluminum tubing. I use 160or 220lb pvc it is thin wall compared to schedule 40 and lightweight and easy to cut.
