The thread has been available to local shops for a while, It is not new locally but is very new on the national scene. I just called the largest tackle shop that I sell Makoi wrapping Thread to, and they report that there has not been any negative feedback or complaints. I have been selling Makoi Thread to this shop for about 1 1/2 years.. Another shop had two complaints. One was for a metallic pewter that faded when the rod was out in the sun for about two months. The fading was found after a label (over the pewter) was removed to do some repair work, A refund or replacement with a different metallic thread was offered and turned down. I have not re-ordered metallic pewter and need to do some testing prior to re-ordering. The manufacturer has not had any other reports regarding this thread. We do know that the use of epoxy thinners can cause premature fading and I will need to do test wraps with a few expoxies to determine if one of the epoxies may have been the cause of fading. The second issue regarded holographic metallic braid. The weave adjacent to the edge of one batch was not tight and small loops were visible. I recalled the effected braid and either refunded the customer or replaced the braid with a different color. That's the total of the issues. On the plus side, a top notch custom buider noted that the number of twists per inch on the Perma Color and nylon were greater than on another brand and it better prevented the blank or unwraps from showing through. Hope this helps, Don Don Becker Re: New Makoi Wrapping Thread

Since you mentioned that you will be trying it, I add a few additional colors at no cost. I hope that's OK with you. ;) Added were 0001, 0246, 0326, 5896 and 6778. When the color code is a number as above, it is a very close match or equivalent to a Gudebrod color. If you build professionally and have a license, you should be able to establish an account with Merrick Tackle and purchase wholesale. Thank you for your purchase.
