Hi all, looking for a little help here. Customer has a 12ft CTS Vapor Trail he wants me to cut down to 11ft. I will be using Fuji-K's for guides, starting with a 30. Can someone help me on spacing/amt guides? This is my first build on a CTS. He will be surf fishing and some Cape Cod Canal jigging. Will be putting a Saltiga reel on it.
Thanks in advance! Scott "My biggest fear in life is that when I die, my wife will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it." Re: CTS Surf Rod Guide Spacing Help

Scott, I bought a vapor trail 11'- 3 to 6 oz. one peice blank at the surf day show here in NJ two weeks ageo. I was curious to know the set up used by Rich the distributor here in NJ for CTS. He sent me his set up for my blank which is a seven guide C O F system that I haven't used in my test casting. I did a set up using FUJI K guides along with some high framed single foot guides and did some test casting on a field near home. I'm not really happy with 45 to 48 yards using about a 2 oz. practice plug. I have an order of more K guides comming in with more styles of thier double and single foot frames. Before I do a final wrap I want to get the most I can out of this blank so its gonna take time. I know I can get more distance by increasing the casting weight but, I want to tweak it to the lighter side of 3 ozs. for plastic baits, surface plugs, and Hopkins Shorty's.
By the way, where are you taking 12" out of that blank, butt, tip, or 6 & 6. A footout of that blank is gonna change the action big time. If it comes out of the tip its gonna be like a nail, vapor trails are not fast action blanks. Good luck Dennis Dennis J. Danku (Sayreville,NJ) Re: CTS Surf Rod Guide Spacing Help

Thanks Bill, i didnt find it in my first search but it was pretty broad, I will try again. Dennis, thanks for that info, I dont have the blank in hand yet but I had planned on cutting the butt, from what I know them they are very thin for such a long blank, It was clients idea to cut it, seemed pretty adamant, I will confirm with him though. Can you forward me what he sent you? Thanks again! Re: CTS Surf Rod Guide Spacing Help
