Removed an old cork tape handle and was left with a cellophane type of film under which was a real sticky glue once I was able to wrestle some bits and pieces of this indestructible film off the glue cleans up pretty good with lacquer thinner. My question, is there an easier way to remove this film other than picking and scraping. Will acetone hurt the blank it's an old lami honey blank.
Any suggestions would gratefully appreciated

Acetone could indeed damage that glass blank and the resin used to make it. A safer bet would be some sort of citrus cleaner. Goo-Gone might be your best bet.

Try heat I use a hair dryer A heat gun would be quicker But

Don't cook the blank get it nice and warm and see if it will scrap off Most glues will sofen with heat and come off a lot easer

after heating try using an old credit card or a plastic knife to scrape the residue free

if you use spray oil let set for a short bit of time then lightly scrape it with your finger nail if it starts to lift off great if not try some thing stronger , the oil works on a lot of that type of
problems what have you got to loose let us know if it works Bill

Bill you mention spray oil are you refering to goo gone or a citrus oil in a spray form?

Used a little gentle heat from a heat gun on a lower setting a plastic putty knife that I squared the edge of with a carpenters plane and then cleaned up the whole mess with goo-gone

no just spray oil I have never used WD40 lockal hardwear store nothing special about the oil you might even try AUTO /CAR oil cheep an easy to come by an no damage to rod,
what have you got to loose take the dip stick out an get a couple of drops an try iy seewhat happends
