Peel & Stick Decals over Thread Wrap

Hello... am finishing up a custom build for my brother and am interested in placing a decal over a solid color wrap. Should I put a light coat of epoxy first and then apply the decal followed by another coat of epoxy? Am new at this and appreciate any and all suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

Yes Epoxy first to give it a Flat surface to lay on
Make sure you put enough to have a FLAT surface

You HAVE TO HAVE a very smooth, flat surface or you will have a big mess. If the peel and stick is home printed spray it with a fixative before applying it and go around the edges with CP before epoxying over it. Epoxy tends to attack the edges, lifting them, so you want to seal them before the epoxy. If you are using white media the edges will be white after you cut it out, so blackening the edges with a Sharpie will make them disappear on a dark blank. I'm doubt if commercial peel and sticks need the fixative, but expect someone will clarify that. I would still use the CP around the edges.

I have had good results applying peel and stick printed decals from Mudhole, between layers of epoxy.

That makes them sort of "float" in space. Nice effect on a clear media decal.

If your decal is printed on a clear sheet
Do not sand the finish or the Dullness will show thought the decal and it will look cloudy
