Exposed Reel Seat on Small Diameter Blank

I have been using the MHX S782 blanks with Fuji SK2 reel seats with no problems, but I would like to try an use an exposed blank ECS seat instead for comfort. My issue is that the smallest reel seat diameter is 9.5, which is too big for this blank. Is the best fix to use an arbor in the front half of the reel seat? I am concerned with the possibility of a loose fit where the blank is exposed and looking for guidance before I order more components. I would prefer to not use a "standard" seat but that may be my only option. Have any of you encountered this issue? Always tough when you can't just run to the corner store to pick up components.
FYI, this is a spinning blank that I have been using for casting with great results. As always, thanks for your feedback. Re: Exposed Reel Seat on Small Diameter Blank

David,
Can you explain to me how an exposed reel seat is comfortable? Roger Re: Exposed Reel Seat on Small Diameter Blank

You can build it on a cf tube then arbor inside the tube. I've done it a few times on matagi tubes it works great and looks good to boot. Cheers Mark Newcombe Old Bar NSW Australia markscustomfishing.com American Tackle Pro-Staff Re: Exposed Reel Seat on Small Diameter Blank

Yes you could use a CF tube as above or Texalium. I recently did one and actually used thread in the exposed area with the usual epoxy coatings for something different. It worked a treat and gave a fairly unique look. It was not much to build up the other areas of the seat with a bit of tape to get a good hold using. Re: Exposed Reel Seat on Small Diameter Blank

What if you put in a black arbor from Pac Bay and filed out the exposed section Bill - willierods.com Re: Exposed Reel Seat on Small Diameter Blank

Roger, exposed reel seats and skeletons are about the only thing sold here on the TX coast for inshore fishing.
Thanks for the advice on the cf tubes and for trying to file the arbor. I will give them both a whirl and see how it goes. Thanks! Re: Exposed Reel Seat on Small Diameter Blank

As Lance mentioned both Batson and PacBay have exposed reelseats to 8.5mm and they go up to 17mm. Re: Exposed Reel Seat on Small Diameter Blank
