micro build pricing

The older I get, the harder it seems for me to work with micro guides, but everybody wants them. I was just wondering if anybody charges more labor wise for micro builds? And how much more? I'm not looking for total cost pricing since that depends on components, just the cost difference between building a standard build and a micro build.
Thank you, Steve Re: micro build pricing

If the demand is there, then a little higher price might be possible. Charge what you need to charge and see if your customer base will allow it.

Like Tom says if everyone wants them, there must be demand. You might charge the same as you do double foot guides instead of single foot guides. Re: micro build pricing

I have not been charging anything different but they sure seem like more work to me. I don't build no where near as many rods as most of you but maybe I just need more practice.
Thanks for the input, Steve Re: micro build pricing

Steve,
Simply put, the trick is in the holding of the guide. Whether you start a few wraps and then slip the guide under the wraps, or use an elastic band to hold the guides, the actual wrapping in only a 10 second affair. Use the guide holding system that works for you and you will find that the wrapping goes very quickly indeed. Roger Re: micro build pricing

In what industry does a better performing item not command a higher price?
More work better balanced better blank response lighter less fishing fatigue increased sensitivity increased casting distance in high demand (especially among the bass fishing crowd) If you are not charging more, then you are only hurting yourself! Re: micro build pricing

more fine work demands higher prices, its fairly obvious if it takes you longer with more pressure on micro builds, more guides, etc etc then charge more. I think we could all build a 37kg bent butt alot quicker than fiddly can't see guides.!! Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
