2 Part epoxy over 1 Part

Hello everyone, Is it ok to put a coat of 2 part over the new RD one-part after it is completely dry? I wont go into the reasons I need to, lets just say its not for me, and I should have tried it out before I used it on a real rod, especially one that needs to be finished by tuesday! Stupid, I know.

Thanks in advance

Scott

Scott,

I know that when I put the TM1 over epoxy on a repair that I can see where the epoxy was, if the epoxy isn't completely removed. It might be okay in the other order, and at least worth a quick test. The best bet is to mix up a batch of finish, and put it on a wrap to see if you can see the lines where the TM1 ends. If not, go ahead and finish the rod. If you can tell the difference, you are in a tight spot with a deadline.

Good Luck,

Joe

Thanks Joe. I will prob test it out later. I believe that it will be ok, most epoxies I believe have the same temp and texture, regardless of how they are mixed. I will let you know! thanks again!

Never have used the one part, but have been told by ones that have used it that it shrinks a little as it cures, so be careful if you think you are getting full coverage!

IF you let the one part dry completely, it should't be a problem. Of course you could always put a heavy coat of the one part one as the second coat and as it cures it will shrink to a more normal finish. I usually lay it on thick! Just to the point of sagging and when it cures it's fine.

Thanks guys. I was reluctant to put the second coat on thick, as it seemed to glob alot. I think it would be good for guides, I tried it on a larger area. Thanks again.
