When I put CP in thread tunnels can I stand the rod on it,s butt and leave it to dry like that? Re: COL Chaseling question about CP

You can, but it won't buy you much. The CP wicks up into the tunnel pretty well in the horizontal position so no need for any head-standing to get it in there. Start from the tip of the foot and work back to the frame and the CP will wick into the tunnel. Add a dab at the end if you need to but most of the time you won't even need that if you use a loaded brush and flood the wrap.

Hi Paul,
For madeira I'm using three coats of threadmaster on all my wraps and I get spool colours for the finished product. Probably don't need that much cp but I've never had any issues with fisheyes from the silicon in the thread so I keep doing what works. Never had a guide pull out and some rods have had a lot of use. Will be worth your while to do a bit of experimenting with your techniques to see what works for you before you do it on a rod. Good luck.
