Hi Paul,
It's more than strong enough for guide wraps. How do I know? Not from heresay or guessing. I did quite a few tests on strength and stretch on madeira and a few other well known rod threads. Madeira breaks at an average of 1.2kg while guidebrod broke at 1.1kg. Madeira had about 1% more stretch than gudebrod. If you do a search you should find all the results. Thread with a breaking strain over 0.7kg (11/2lb) is ok for guide wraps.

I would suggest a test on a piece of scrap to make sure it comes out the way you want
