A few months ago I posted about an old box of threads that belonged to my Gradfather. He used to repair rods for his friends when I was a kid. My dad had the box and when I started building he gave them to me. I wanted to build a Muskie rod for my brother using his old materials. I've just posted pictures of that rod in the photo section. The challage was that he wanted a 6' - 6'6" rod because he drift fishes a narrow river in northern Wisconsin for Muskies and they are hefty fish. Most Muskie blanks out there are much longer than 6 feet. This is my 5th build and I am still learning. No cross wraps here (will do my first on the next build) but I like what I've built. The orange thread and the verigated black/white underwrap are from my Granpa's box and are decorative. The main gray guide wrap is Prowrap Nylon 841. I didn't think it was a good idea to use the old threads where strength mattered. Steve Hartzell Lake Conroe - Willis, Texas Re: Old threads new Muskie rod

Steve that's a great looking muskie rod. I've caught several river muskie on a 6'6'' rod so brother should not have a problem if he fishes with it. I think I would put that one in a show case. Good job! Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
