Hi a customer bought his own components and bought hardloy guides he now asked me if they are fine for a 24 kg LBG rod
I was wondering that as well or should he go SiC ?? Cheers Tristan Sydney, NSW Australia Re: BLRXLG Fuji guides

I don't think Sic's are necessary, but I would go with Alconite or Zirconia. That's just my preference and I have had great success with those materials. David Dosser Coshocton, OH Re: BLRXLG Fuji guides

Unless he plans on either targeting fish that make long runs (tuna, carp, etc) and/or light tackle record seeking, the hardloys would be fine. Re: BLRXLG Fuji guides

if you want go on to youtube and look up lbg marlin you guy would probly spin out the size of fish that is actually caught Tristan Sydney, NSW Australia Re: BLRXLG Fuji guides

Hi Tristan,
I would go with the heavy duty SiC's and a roller tip which can have something put over it to keep the bush walking crap out. A big beeakie can put a lot of strain and heat into a guide train in a 3/4 hour plus fight on 50lb tackle and you want every advantage you can get. Tell him your feelings and let him decide. $40-50 extra means nothing if you can get a 100kg beakie on the stones. ESFNEM Col Port Kembla, NSW Australia Re: BLRXLG Fuji guides

You guys seriously think that a ceramic ring, even a hardloy, will not hold up to 50# tackle? Re: BLRXLG Fuji guides

This is like engine builders racing dyno's: don't mean nothing if you don't put a car in the race. Hardloy rings will work just fine... let the customer prove the guides he bought won't work before you sell him on another rod. My guess is that the inserts will last before the rod gives out...

If you can make a deal with him Use his guides
But if they give out he pays for replacement Bill - willierods.com Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
