Hi

Instead of a winding check - A ramp is made with either reel seat arbor cork eva You can use finish but ya have to let it dry several days to harden

The ramp base (before thread) can also be shaped from Rod Bond. Quick Set is best. A search for "thread ramps" should turn up something. Re: grip
