Help with Seeker blanks

I bought three BT 20 Seeker blanks last year froma tackle shop that closed. The specs on the blank are length 7'8", Tip 10, butt 870. My problem is that the specs in the catalog are length 7', tip 10, and butt 850. I can't figure out if this was a mistake, or if I should cut 8" off the butt. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

I wouldn't cut them just to make them specified BT20's. If you can use them as is, do so. If you need a shorter blank, then consider cutting them.

Hi Bill,
Appears that they weren't trimmed at the factory for some reason. Decide what the best length is for your particular application and maybe the extra length will be handy. Think hard before you do any cutting because you can't put it back.

Bill; We don't manufacture blanks 8" too long and then cut off the 8" and throw it away. Way too expensive. We give you an inch or so on each end to trim if you wish. How do you know it's a Seeker? Does it have the Seeker lable on the blank with BT 20 written on it? If you can take a picture of the lable I would like to see it. The other thing you can do is look inside the butt end and see if you can read the lable we put inside when the blanks are rolled. You may find the blank was mislabled or that it is a different blank. Without seeing it I can't be of much help but I will say it sounds as though there is an error here.

I checked the bin this morning and found some BT 20 blanks that are 7' 6". Asked our blank dept. about them and they said they were made longer as a special order. So you may have some made as a special order.

Jim,
I downloaded a photo. Two of the blanks are still sealed. Thanks for all your help.
