Hi Shawn,
Tom Kirkman's method works well. A small tin that will take about two bottles of perma gloss. Put a small hole about 1/4 inck from the bottom and insert a srew eye into that. I found that some teflon tape around the thread of the screw eye helps it seal better. Fill quickly and get the lid on. When you need it remove the screw eye and it will come out slowly and when finished replace the screw eye. I've got a can I've had for six month's and it's still all liquid after one use. Buy the 1 ounce bottles unless you make a lot and I mean a Lot of rods. Pour out the amount you need in a plastic cup, and immiediatly recap the bottle. Unless you have a way to vacumn the air out of the bottle, it has already drawn in enough wet air to set up within a couple of weeks. Use it up asap. It is the best finish on the market, butt you need to know how to use it. Re: U-40 Perma Gloss

Can i use plastic/glass pippets to draw out the amt i require, recap the U-40 bottle & release it into a glass bottle meant for application use? ______________________________________ A seller's trash is another buyer's treasure... Re: U-40 Perma Gloss

You should always remove what you're going to use and transfer it to another container, cup, etc., Never leave the main jar open and work from there. That allows too much moisture in and starts curing the main portion.

I have a 4oz bottle for about 3 months now, what i do is pour out the amount that i need and then i take my seal-O-matic and put the bottle in a back and vaccum seal it and put it in the refeg, so for it has worked. Bobby Stout Bloomburg, TX Re: U-40 Perma Gloss

I'm with John on the fridge. I keep mine there also, and have no problems. Re: U-40 Perma Gloss

In case anyone wonders why refrigeration can help prolong the life of the product, it has to do with the "frostless" system which dehumidifies the air inside the unit. This removes the very moisture that would otherwise cause the PG to cure.

Tom, thanks for the explanation. I just know i have done it for years and never had a problem. My wife never understood why I did it even thought I explained many times why there were permagloss bottles next to the mayo. Maybe that is why she is my ex. lol Re: U-40 Perma Gloss

Right, if you put it in an older fridge, one without the frostless system, it won't help at all. It's not the temp - it's the dehumidifier that does the trick.
Or, put the stuff in the little metal can and just forget about it. ......... Re: U-40 Perma Gloss

It is a strange anomaly where PG is concerned, that storage in the bottle is not absolutely air tight due to the child safety cap regulations. For this reason storing it in the fridge or in the can mentioned above, are the two solutions.

A small metal 1/2 pint paint can. A small hole is punched into the bottom on the side and a screw eye inserted. PG is poured in and the can is completely (or very nearly) filled. To dispense, the screw eye is removed and PG slowly comes out. A vacuum of sorts is created within the can as more and more PG is dispensed. But little to no air enters and thus the PG is kept from any moisture. You can store PG for years and years this way with no ill effects.
