Hey everyone!
A buddy of mine broke about half an inch off his ice rod last week and asked if there was anything I could do to fix it. I could do the easy fix of taking the tip off and glueing it to the blank making the blank a half an inch shorter or so but I got to thinking if there was anything else I could do so I didn't have to shorten the blank? Would maybe a support and some epoxy keep the two pieces mended back together? or do you think that wouldn't be strong enough? Any advice helps I appreciate it! Re: Tip Repair

Look here for information: [www.rodbuilding.org]
It is possible to scarf a new tip to restore the original length, but for a half inch I'm not sure it's worth the effort involved. ................ Re: Tip Repair

I agree with Tom and Ken. Make sure the fibres of the blank are not splintered prior to adding the new tip.
