Depends on how much you think they want to spend. A set of expanding mandrels would be an excellent gift, some good lighting, whatever you don't have that doesn'T exceed the amount of money they wish to spend. Or have a couple of them go in together if it is more than one can afford. Merry Xmas

Kevin, One item your always going to use for rodbuildind is a tabel top 1" wide belt sander for dressing guide feet. I bought mine in LOWES for $39.and I'll never go back to hand filing again, except for the saddle I use a chain saw file.

Go to your favorite online supplier and go shopping. Add everything you want to your shopping cart then print.

Then print the page and print to file for emailing.

Put QTY in for stuff like guides and tops etc..

You can also just ask for the gift cards if they dont care about giving the actual gift.

My wife would probably individually wrap a 100 pieces of cork just to be funny.

Which sander? I can't find one for anything near that inexpensive.

I've sent an email with some links to specific items, but I hadn't thought of the cart idea. It's just one (maybe two), and we usually stick to around $25 or so, so mainly I was looking for small, inexpensive stuff that I might not think of on my own. Appreciate all the good ideas so far.

Small, sharp scissors. Scalpel with #11 blades. Burnishing tool. Small spatulas. Assortment of small brushes. Cheap BBQ lighters. Alcohol burner. Stainless Dental picks, for marbling. Paper condiment cups, by the hundreds. Scotchbrite finishing disks, for dremel like tools, for smoothing guide feet. Small Triangle file, for inside cork rings. Lotsa tape. Bag of rubber bands. Nitrile gloves, by the hundreds........I'll think of more......

I am not sure where they might be available now, I bought mine from Dale Clemens back in the late 70's or early 80's. They are great if you can find them. I will look and see if I can find them in a google search.
