What factory rods would you compare the RX6 fly blanks to as far as actions and performance? Thanks - Marc Keep it simple - that's all I can handle! Re: RX6 Fly Blanks - Similar to what factory rods

I cant tell you this about the RX-6 blanks and that is that they fish like blanks costing over twice as much. They are a great value for the money. I fish them in Alaska for salmon and i love them. Lamiglas G 1000 fly rods and the nice LL Bean rods you get in the starter kits come to mind. Re: RX6 Fly Blanks - Similar to what factory rods

I like a faster action and more power I find them too soft Bill - willierods.com Re: RX6 Fly Blanks - Similar to what factory rods

If you want a faster blank then check out the RX-7 line they are a faster blank in my opinion. Kevin Gross Many men will spend their whole life wondering if they made a difference. Marines dont have that problem - Ronald Regan Re: RX6 Fly Blanks - Similar to what factory rods

I have built two, the 6'6" 2wt and the 7'9" 3wt. I find them pretty soft and slow, almost too much for my tastes. I'm used to a TFO Lefty Kreh Signature, not a fast rod, but I find them much slower. I did have a lot of fun with both of them on panfish and creek trout fishing this past summer though. At the price they are worth a shot probably, especially for a first build. I find the RX6 blanks enjoyable to fish with in the rods I have built for myself. I have the 6'6" 2 wt, 9' 4 wt and 9' 5 wt, all 4 piece. I also have a RX7 9' 4wt that I is really low in power, a soft 4 wt. The little 2 wt prefers a #3 line. The 4 & 5 weight RX6 has a good belly weight to it (I don't know if there is such a term, I made it up) that casts nicely up to 30' or so but begins to fold on itself when trying to power a long cast. I bring them as back up rods on trips and sometimes I just use them for fun. I really prefer my RX8+ 4 weight or St Croix SC4 IPC 5 wt to either the 4 or 5 wt RX6 because they are useful in any fishing situation (wind, distance). If the new RX8 is similar to the old RX8+ I would prefer that rod. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
