Here's a link to my gallery, showing the pics of the rod so far. All that's left to do is the finish, which hopefully i'll get started on tomorrow evening. Will be using Threadmaster. Any tips before i start?

I'll add more pics as i get the finish done. I wouldn't even attempted this without the help i've found on this board and from Kevin Knox's YouTube vids. Thanks y'all!

Hi Kevin,
You've done well so far, looks very good for your first rod. The best tip for finish is don't mess with it, just get it on quickly, check for coverage and then let it do it's thing. You'll get better the more you do particularly the ends. You might find it easier to stop the rod while you get it around the feet if your applying while in the dryer. Good luck. There's an endless amount of tips but you need to find what works for you. If you have reservations then do a few on a scrap piece first and you will see how it will turn out and find any problems with your method.

Practice getting your inlays centered and the threads that cover the guide feet proportionate. Also, try to start and stop the inlays on the bottom of the rod.

Best of luck with your finish work.

Jay

EDIT...Be careful when taking lessons from youtube videos. Some do not show proper technique (or even good technique). I have seen some professionals teach that measuring for your guide wraps isn't necessary, but when you see their work the wraps are different lengths and other aspects are not centered or proportionate. Just be careful when learning from a video. Jay
