Glue for cork rings?

I am about to build my first handle from rings. I was planning on using a two part epoxy, but a friend said he has been using Titebond III and prefers the results. I would really like to hear other opinions about this. Supposedly, the advantage is that there is less "ooze" from the joints which requires later cleaning. I like that. Is it as strong, though? Just curious as to what others think.
Tight lines,
Hunter

Titebond III is plenty strong enough, I use it all the time on Cork rings and the Burl Cork rings without any trouble. One recommendation I would make is if you try putting any rubberized cork rings into the grip along with Cork, use Rod Bond or Ultimate Epoxy to glue those two pieces together.

Thanks, Bill. And, I always use Ultimate Epoxy Gel for the butt caps, too.

tite bond III for everything. I use cork, burl and rubberized on every handle and have never had an issue.

I used to use Trodak cork bond, but since they discontinued it, I now use Liquid Fusion. It is clear, flexible, and very strong. To me, epoxy sets up too hard, and you may feel a slightly sharp ridge between rings after shaping, and especially after using the rod for a while. A strong but elastic type bond is what I want, with no color or hard places between the rings. In the end, it is up to you what you prefer. :>)

i to use TBIII. I have used that Fusion glue for cork to plastic trim and that stuff is incredibly strong. I tried separating pieces and the cork tore apart before the glue failed. It is a urethane glue. I wonder how well it would work for guide wraps.

the answer to your question can't be ansered here as there is more than 1 person , every 1 is a little different , most 2 part will work , as well as the urethine 's ,TB lll well also , as I have used a little bit of all, [ not at one time ] some will dry a little harder [stiffer ] but all the comments above will work just buy small amounts an try them out an see what you like ,

my 2 CTS on the questionas

Brandon, A "glue" for guides wraps does not sound like a good idea! Questions about: leveling properties, UV resistance, and discorloring come to mind.

Hunter,

I use Titebond III, or Rodbond, depending on the components or timeline involved. The "oozing" problem is one that is easily controlled by reducing the amount of adhesive placed on the ring. I use a spatula to spread the rodbond on the outer 3/4 of the ring, and I make sure it is very thin. This ensures that there is little to no oozing, when I clamp it to dry.

I use a brush to put on a thin coat of Titebond III.

And, if there is any ooze, I wipe it off after clamping before it dries.

I use rod bond I put the rings on a threaded rod Giving space I put three drops / dabs on a ring Then place the next ring on it and turn it several times to spread the bond Then when done clamp tight
