I have some Decal Connection decals and was wondering what is the best way to apply. The decals are 3x5/8 and are brand logo decals for a local tackle shop. I'd like to put them directly on the blank and then finish. Getting air bubbles out is my concern. Any advise? Re: Decal and air bubbles

I figured it out that I was using the wrong burnishing tool. The back side of a razor blade works awesome. Re: Decal and air bubbles

I have used my own decals/signature plastic stickers on my rods for years. I had the same problem early on and fould that the adhesive used to bond the sticker to the surface exudes around the edges of the decal/sticker. After applying use a q-tip with a little alcohol to clean up around the edges after burnishing the decal thorougly with your thread burnishing tool. When I wrote on the blank the specs with a heat pen and transfer foil, I would give it a slight spray with my wife's hair spray so that the finish would not disolve or distort the writing. May not work for every application. But has worked for me for over 40 years. Randy Re: Decal and air bubbles

Best to not apply them directly to the blank. I always put one coat of finish on first and then apply the decal. After that apply a second finish coat. John Gaylord Keewaydin Custom Rods Dublin, OH; Naples, FL jgbuckeye@gmail.com Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
