I have a Harrington rod in for a guide repair and notice that it has quite a bend in the first three or four feet, apparently, from improper storage. Is there a way to straighten the rod? The rod has some sentimental value to the owner, his Dad had it custom built years ago. Re: Fiberglass rod question

Hi Mike,
If you can store it for a fair while somewhere warm with the reverse direction you might be lucky. The ones I've seen seem to take a permanent set but I've never tried to get rid of one. Store them verically if short enough or with a lot of supports in the horizontal position. ESFNEM Col Port Kembla, NSW Australia Re: Fiberglass rod question

Hello Mike.
Try hanging it from the tip with a heavy weight hanging from the butt (remember to keep it all straight). Good Luck & Tight Wraps. Bob, New Bern, NC. Re: Fiberglass rod question

Hang it from the tip with a heavy weight on the butt in an oven at 135 degrees for about a week.

I did it with a bamboo but section
mark the blank so you can lay it with the bend up Put some weight on the area Do this several times it should work Just keeping a round blank in one position is the thing Bill - willierods.com Re: Fiberglass rod question

Thank you for the ideas. The owner is an older fellow who doesn't fish much anymore, so we'll see if he wants to do anything. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
