Bobby, I'm sure there are many blanks by many different manufacturers that are comparable to the action of the Dobyns. It's just a matter of putting the completed rod on a testing board and comparing it with different blanks by adding weight to the tips so that you can compare the actual bend between the two.

What if the person doesn't have a bunch of blanks in house to put on the testing board? Most builders don't stock dozens of blanks and only buy what they need when they need it. Just an observation.

Do you do repairs? Everytime one comes in the shop, measure it by your various methods you need to match later on. Everytime you order a blank to build on, measure it. Then measure it for the changes that occur after it's built. It's not going to give you everything, but it does start building you a database of info for future reference.
