Hi Tristan,
Build it up with thread, you can make it part of some trim for the tip. Leave small gaps between the thread under the tip so the epoxy will penetrate. Don't forget to degloss the end of the blank.

How muich bigger? Small differences can be made up with thread. For large difference you may want to get a new tip, espically for a rod that heavy,.

Hello Tristan.

Col & Chris are both right, with Chris's post and a(if my math is right) 52.91 lb class rod if the tip is a 10/64th or smaller I would not use a size 12 tiptop but if it is 11/64th or larger I would go with Col's post and wrap it.

Thats my $.02 worth.
Big fish big pull=strong stuff or else! NO FISH. IMHO.

Simple

tape a strand of A thread just before the top placement Wrap to the tip OPEN WRAPS Then back Try the tip If loose and wobbles Try D thread If still loose

Get the right size Measure the tip of the blank

I have had to build up a few for halibut roda but like bill said if d thread still leaves it too small order the correct size and make sure to leave space in the wrap that will be under the tip so the epoxy can soak in conpleatyl then remove the gloss befroe putting the tip on. I use fast set epoxy to gule the tip on dont want it to come loose.
Just my 12 cent worth
