? on wire frame guide

got a older 10foot surf rod to repair the 1st guide on. it is a wire frame with a insert inside of a shock ring. Who made these and can i still get these anymore? and also how do you go about measuring these guide with shock ring? could be a 40 or 50 Re: ? on wire frame guide

The measurement is taken from the inside to inside of the metal frame.
Several companies made those type guides for several years. Not sure who would still offer and have any, but if you could put a photo of one on the photo page I suspect somebody can help you out. I just gave several hundred of these older type guides to an area rod builder. If I can match one up for you, I'll try to get one to you. But I'd have to see a photo. .................... If the rod is custom made,it might be a Perfection guide, they made wire frames for quite a while. Not sure if Mildrum ever made guides with ceramic rings. If it's a factory rod, matching it exactly might be impossible, you should probably look at a SS wire frame/ no ceramic one size bigger. This was a standard set up for surf rods in the past. PacBay still carries them I think. Re: ? on wire frame guide
