Looking to build a need rod strictly for 6wt dry line. Should I go with a 5wt at 1.5 oz,. ENR 6.76, AA 72 or the 6wt blank at 1.6 oz., ENR 7.15 AA 70. Distance matters as this is for lake application, thoughts? As the tittle says I'd like to try the Quickway blank. Thanks for your thoughts. Denis Re: New Fly Rod on Quickway Blank

PacBay "quickLine" will certainly meet your requirements. Also consider Mudhole MHX.
I assume this is not for dries, since a very fast action rod is typically bad for presentation. I would go with the ERN=7.15 with a 6WT RIO Gold line. You should be able to pound out line with that combination. Re: New Fly Rod on Quickway Blank

I would go for the 6wt ERN=7.15, as you pointed out you will be trying for long casts and the power of that blank will help there.
What are you fishing for? Greg Re: New Fly Rod on Quickway Blank

Fishing for trout in lake, I live in a fairly windy area. Rod will be used mostly from shore. Have lines and a 6wt MHX, want two rods set up so I am not continually changing reels between sinking and floating. Thought I would try a different Co. for a blank. Re: New Fly Rod on Quickway Blank

I think you will really like the Quickline blank. I guided a guy fishing a quickline next to a Sage and he said it did not give up anything to the Sage.
Good Stuff! Thanks - Marc Keep it simple - that's all I can handle! Re: New Fly Rod on Quickway Blank

If wind is a problem, I put my 4 weight back in the truck and grab a lightly built 8 weight.
No fighting butt, single foot light wire titanium guides on the tip, titanium tip top. Can still fish easily down to 8X tippet while the light line guys get "blown out" Delicate presentaion can be accomplished with slighly more casting effort. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
