What's your favorite finish for a first/flood coat? I have used several, and like the Flex Coat UV high build for it's longer pot life. I have use FC lite and it actually has a shorter window where it is thin, then starts to kick pretty rapidly.
So - what do you guys like for a first/flood coat? Thanks - Marc Keep it simple - that's all I can handle! Re: Favorite finish for first coat

I prefer Threadmaster Lite. Good pot life and great bubble release! Re: Favorite finish for first coat

Same here. TM Lite is my favorite with ProKote a close #2. The ProKote has a longer pot life, but there is plenty of time even with TM Lite to do an entire fly rod (10-11 double foot guides) including the butt wrap around the hook keeper. Re: Favorite finish for first coat

Threadmaster lite here too! I used to get all kinds of bubbles, then I switched to Threadmaster lite, and now I hardly have any bubble problems! I just did the last wrap of a tiger wrap, forgot to watch out for bubbles came back about an hour later and guess what! No bubbles! Great! clear as glass! Tiight wraps all! Threadmaster Lite for all coats. The only time I use something different is for coating grips and then it is Flex Coat High Build. Re: Favorite finish for first coat

Only used Flexcost, Flexcoat Lite and Threadmaster lite. Once I tried Threadmaster Lite I had no reason to try anything else...I love it....clear, flows well, and doesn't seem to hold bubbles as much but that may be because I moved to a mechanical mixer at the same time.
