I have a friend that has asked me to try and restore a rod that belonged to his father. It is a Garcia bait cast rod. A gold fiberglass model. The cork handle needs to be replaced and I have read several articles on how to split the grip and work it on the old real seat. The problem is that there are two guides that are broken and they don't look like any guides I have seen for sale before. The rings appear to be soldered to the feet. The guides look more like cricket legs with a ring soldered between them. Anyone know of a source for vintage stuff like this or am I just wasting my time. They may have been Perfection brand guides. These were used on lots of vintage rods. If you post a photo someone will likely have some in their stash. I have some in my old stuff that you can have if they are the right size and style. Re: Source for old style guides
