On glueing the cork rings to a shaft or threaded rod, would beewax do the same as parafin wax? cause I gotr plenty of bee wax.

Sort of, but bees wax is a bit "sticky" whereas paraffin is more "slippery" (but will not prevent the epoxy from sticking the rings to the mandrel well enough that you can't turn it). I think you'll find that paraffin leaves less mess behind.

If you do not - LOAD - the glue on You do not need a heck of a lot

I never use any wax on a threaded rod when glueing up cork rings
When dry I loosen up one nut and tighten up the other and it pushes the cork off the rod

I clean the rod off buy putting it on a drill and run a fine tooth hack saw blade in the threads

I use threaded rod when I glue up my grips. Using titebond 3 I don't care how much glue gets on the rod. I just chuck the rod up in a drill and back it out from the cork.

I have been rubbing the same old candle on my mandrels and threaded rods for years now. Think it cost like .75 when I bought it. Don't need anything fancy but I would not use your wifes "special one" if you want to avoid a fight.

No wax needed if you clamp the rings then withdraw the mandrel.

Bill,

quick suggestion for cleaning your threaded rods.... USE A DIE!!! much easier and safer than a hacksaw blade! There are many ways you can use it but I slip one end of the rod into the chuck of the old Makita and thread the die onto the rod. Give her a good spin while ensuring you have a secure grip on the die and wha-la you get a perfectly cleaned rod every time.
