Yet another Question on Guide Re-Do

Hi All, although dumpster diving is not my hobby, I found an almost brand new Penn Slammer trolling rod recently in the bin with 2 broken guides. Following the advice in the FAQ I just removed the 2 guides in question. These have underwraps that I was careful not to destroy. For the record, the scalpels I bought a while back were great for this task. Now i have the epoxy, obviously not level. My plan was to level/clean/sand as much as possible, put a coat of epoxy over what I have, then threading on the new guides, and then epoxy.

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Scott

When applying finish -- make Sure Your Rod Is - Level Or the finish will go to the Lower End
if you get Footballs you put to much on let turn and when you see them
Stop the turner let a drip apear take the brush and wipe it off Turn 180 let it level Start the turner
Check often

you have to Baby Sit it for a while to be sure
get yourself a small level from Home depot or the like

Thanks Bill! I have a small line level I bought for that very reason, before I apply finish I use it everywhere on the rod. Thanks again just wanted to make sure I was on the right track. This is my first Re-do of a guide.

Thanks again!

You can skip the step of applying a coat of finish on the underwrap before you wrap on the guide if you wish. You shouldn't have any problems wrapping on the guides then do all the finish work.
