On occassion, I have wraps develop a shaded area where the thread meets the blank after coming over a larger guide foot like a 20mm stripper, at the ends of any guide feet, or on the underside of the blank (on the wrap) where I have single foot guides.
I know the instructions say "do not allow to pool" etc. but I was not using so much I thought this would be an issue. On some guides where I have flooded the dang thing, I had no issues at all, so not sure what the happy medium is. Besides really being perplexed by how a clear product that dries clear is causing nylon thread to darken, I need to ask so I can finish this rod - How little CP can I use and still protext the thread from the epoxy. I'm concerned that the epoxy will go in the tunnel and discolor the undersides of the thread wraps. I wish they had simpler instructions such as "apply only enough to darken the thread, then layoff! Thanks. Re: Shading on Wraps with Cason Crystal Clear CP

You need to apply enough so that the threads turn uniformly dark. A good, full wet coat is what you want. The threads should be wet. No need to pool anything.

"threads turn uniformly dark" and a "good, full wet coat"
This I can understand. Thank You, Tom. Tony Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
