Has anyone bought any of those cheap mud hole blanks on that special at the moment? I live in Aus so It's a long way to post some rods that may not work well! Re: Cheap mud hole blanks

I haven't bought any of the blanks that are currently on special, but I've had great results with these kind of blowout sales that Mudhole does. The blanks are pretty high quality for 10 or 15 bucks apiece. Re: Cheap mud hole blanks

I have use several of the "CRB" blanks for my occasional fishermen. They are IM6 and stand up well to abuse. I believe that the ones that the run sales on like $9 or so are intended for repair use? If your looking for inexpensive blanks, I'd go with the CRB, JMHO

I have made many rods using these blanks. As Jeff said they stand up well to abuse. I use them myself.

I have built three rods on these sale blanks.
Frankly, I was expecting these to be obvious "seconds" but was pleasantly surprised with what I received. Re: Cheap mud hole blanks

Mine were obviously seconds. Three of the five needed lots of leveling and one has a noticable curve to it (1 1/2"). But you get what you pay for. I'm happy with them. 5 blanks for under a hundred bucks, hard to beat. I've built two of them so far and they work just fine. The CRB blanks that I've ordered in the past were much nicer in appearance and still pretty cheap. Re: Cheap mud hole blanks
