Im looking to build a 9' medium / fast rod for a guy. This rod will be used for bank catfishing. My issue is that I would rather buy a rod bank and piece it together but I just cant beat the price that Bass Pro has on their already assembled rods. I went looking yesterday and found a 9' Shimano rod for about 20.00. Its definitly nothing special as its a typical fiberglass rod, but the action was what I need and its gonna be completly stripped anyways. So my thoughts were to just strip it and rebuild the way I want.
However I would rather not go through the process of stripping the rod as its messy and time consuming. So does anyone know of a company that sells a blank around these specs for a comparable price? thanks Re: cheap 9' fiberglass rod

I needed to produce a rod with a specific action as cheaply as possible. It appears from the reviews that they seem to break where the 2 pieces meet. So im hoping the addition of a metal ferrule which I typically use for this setup will eliminate that. Re: cheap 9' fiberglass rod

Its for a friends kid and they just dont have much money. I agreed to do something with an off the shelf blank that was as cheap as possible just so he could afford to give his sone one like I have... Yeah stil a risk I know... but I think it will be okay... Re: cheap 9' fiberglass rod

A buddy mentioned to me a long time ago and I sort of live by this:
Cheap, good, quick...pick 2 Bill I've had one of those and finally let him know that by him calling me, he was taking away the time to build his rod. Once he figured out that I would build it slower the more he called, all of the sudden the calls stopped and the rod was delivered 3 days later along with me informing him I would no longer build any rods for him.
