Having been away for a couple of years, I see there's some new things on the market. Got a couple of Q's.
Chromaseal Color Preserver, and Craysons Crystal Clear CP.... Do these do anything that that standard Flex Coat CP doesn't? Any advantage? Mud Hole's CRB Bubble Buster... Does it work? Is it worth the 8 bucks, or is it best to just do it the old fashioned way? There seems to be some new epoxies out there. Are any of them better than Rod Bond? Thread - What out there is equivalent to Gudebrod;s garnet, which was one of my favorite colors? Thanks folks! Re: New Product Questions

1. If you are happy with FC CP dont' switch. I sell & sometimes use Chromaseal (I have 811S, I use Chromaseal when I don't want to "waste" my good stuff). It does a great job retaining colors, better than FC. You really only notice the difference in CP when doing a shaded wrap with MAdeira threads, FC tends to darken some colors where you lose a shade or 2. Chromaseal doesn't. [northeastrodbuilders.com]
2. For me, Bubble buster is a remedy when a fisheye or foam bubble pops up out of nowhere. I spray the finish as it turns, and the bubbles have gone away, just not every time. For me, if it worked 1 time it's worth it. IMO it does not release micro bubbles. 3. Pro Paste or whatever they call it is a more liquid-y form of Rod Bond. It's kind of the consistancy of thick molasses,Rod Bond peanut butter. 4. Fishhawk and Pro Wrap both have a thred that color, I don't know off the top of my head what the exact color is. Both companies make good nylon imo. Re: New Product Questions

Quick Bond is the 1-hour setting version of Rod Bond.

Mick,
Gudebrod is back in business. They may not be producing all colors yet, but Jann's Netcraft has Garnet on their website. Merrick Tackle is a distributor and can tell you which other suppliers are carrying Gudebrod. George Forster Fort Collins, CO Re: New Product Questions

Stick with what you can already apply, continue to refine your processes. There is no "magic" CP, finish, epoxy, etc. almost all work and all have nuances. Garnet is out there. Call Bingham and Schneider's, you will find it. Re: New Product Questions

Mick,
Schneider's Rod Shop(a sponsor to the left) also has Gudebrod Garnet; I bought a spool last week. "It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so." Mark Twain John in Wethersfield, CT Re: New Product Questions

Thanks guys! Just curious to see if any of the new stuff is actually an improvement over the time tested. Re: New Product Questions

Mick -
The best rod builders can make ANY of the products look stellar. IMO, it all comes down to refinement of your processes. Keep it simple, don't overcomplicate things. Concentrate on perfect performance with what you already have. That's my advice. Jim - Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
