I know that Tom K. is a minimalist when it comes to guide sizing for fly rods. In that vein, what do you all think about a Recoil #12 stripper, then 9 recoil single foot #1 running guides for a 9", 6wt.? Rather than just go by what any of us thinks, why not tape up that exact set and then go cast and retrieve it. You'll find out pretty quickly how well it works.
If you wanted to stick a #8 guide between the 12 and #1's and try it that way as well, you'll be that much farther along the curve in knowing what you can do with guide sizing. ............... Re: 6wt guide selection

Be sure the #1's will pass any knot/connections as well! Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
