I managed to brake the top of my St. Croix SCIII blank while fishing. My fault. The break is about 41/2 inches from the tip. I did a search looking for repair advice. I lerned one can use piano wire as a reinforcing rod inserted into the ends of the break. This sounds like a great fix. I need some advice concerning the piano wire. How do I order the correct wire? I mean, is piano wire graded by thickness or do I need to figure out somehow the key(s) the correct size of wire is used for. I think I can determine how thick of a wire I need, just need to know how to convey this to the person selling me the wire. Any ideas, people? Also, since I'm more comfortable in a hardware store, any sugesstions for an alternative wire with the required flexibility and thinness?
Gracias, as usual. Harry T. Bell Re: Graphite rod tip break-repair

No, using piano wire for that is absurd, to put it mildly. Try this instead:

Thanks, Tom. I got that info from a search of the rodboard, but I think you just saved me some considerable aggravation. While I've got your attention, Thank You for the articles in the new Rodmaker. I particularily appreciate the articles on feathers, Forhan locking wrap, and the one on surface prep. Can I ask, is there a way to ascertain the articles contained in past issues? I'm in my 1st year of subscription and realize I could find help I can't even imagine at this point, being a 1st year novice. Do you sell all past issues together for one price? Thanks, again and take care .Harry Re: Graphite rod tip break-repair

I caught my braid behind my boat and did not release the bail which would have saved the rod. But if you think I should, I'll call them. It is one of my better builds. Casts a mile. Re: Graphite rod tip break-repair

Check the RodMaker website for CDs containing select combinations of articles. But no, not all can be had outside of individual issues.

Hi Harry,
The cd's are excellent value for what you get but there's still nothing to compare to holding a glossy mag in your hands and being able to refer to it whenever needed. ESFNEM Col Port Kembla, NSW Australia Re: Graphite rod tip break-repair
