Too much finish for mirco guides?

I just finished my 1st spinning rod with micro guides. As I was leaving for work, and the rod was in the dryer, about 12 way done, I noticed the finish is all the way up the guides just below or at the ring frame. Is this going to destroy the sensitivity, which is the component I was trying to maximize? Csn I reduce it after full cure, maybe with a fine point diamond on my Dremel? You probably put on a little bit too much, but no, it won't ruin the sensitivity. The human hand isn't able to notice small differences such as that.

When I apply finish to micro guide wraps, I stop a few times the first hour (ProKote, so I have time to do this) and wipe the excess off with a toothpick. I now use a very small testor's brush for the area around the wrap behind the guide and I have also used a toothpick with some success. Re: Too much finish for mirco guides?

I am finding that I like to use Perma gloss or Lumiseal for Micro guides. I can put it on faster and I can control the build up better. Lucky J's custom rods Re: Too much finish for mirco guides?

I've used flexcoat high build on all three I have built with micro's so far with very good results. just use a tooth pick to remove build up at the guide foot. Re: Too much finish for mirco guides?

I have used classic coat and Diamond (depends on what time of the year I do it) and have not had any issues with micros. I put the first layer on very very light, just enough to soak into the thread, second is a finishing layer for looks, keep it light, if you see it riding up the guide use a coffee filter folded in half to remove the execess. Best of luck to you. Re: Too much finish for mirco guides?
