I read from time to time comments about the lack of support by some rod blank manufacturers regardng broken blanks. So I thought I would add this about St. Croix. Last week I broke my St. Croix Legend, 3 pc. 8 weight on a 40 inch king salmon. I know is was 40" because I measured it after I handlined it in!! The rod was built by me. I sent the rod in with a note of explanation and a $10.00 shipping fee as St. Croix requested. Within 10 days I had a new blank of the same make and model, and the old rod back. No additional fees, no further questions. The rod failed at the furthermost ferrule. The line had gotten wrapped around the tip when I was wrestling the thing to shore, the fish broke free, the line went tight, the rod which was tucked under my arm bent in a U and snap. I got great service at a very reasonable price ($10.00). Now let's see, where is that article I have that Ralph wrote about building new ferrules? Buzz Re: a comment on st. croix warranty

They were great with my rod as well. I was a bit ticked at first for having to send both sections of the rod, especially after I read one company crushes the old blank. Later found out that they replaced the tip section and needed the bottom piece ot make sure it fit - Great!! Now I have a sweet 6'6 2-piece rod that I re-built, as well as a 6'2 version of the same rod that is just a bit stiffer (4 inches off the tip!) Billy Re: a comment on st. croix warranty

I have been building rods in Washington State for 20 years and I have never had a problem getting a brocken rod or blank replaced for free or a small minimal handleing fee. Then I know other guys that walk in to a service shop and throw a absilute rigging fit. then the service personel sticks it to them Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
