Perma gloss question

Ok, almost embarrassed to admit this. After making rods for so many years I have never ever used perma gloss. I finally broke down and ordered some to try. My question is, can I put this over rod finish without water breaking the surface? Reason being is I have a rod that's already finished. I have carbon fiber grips on the rod that I'd like to coat with this for the final coat. . It would be nice to be able to coat the grips and butt section of the rod all at once. Anything else, or tricks that I need to know about this stuff? Thank you very much gentleman for any help. Re: Perma gloss question

There isn't any real reason to put it on top of epoxy. It won't buy you anything.
If you want to finish your carbon fiber grips, PG is ideal. Sand the grips smooth and remove most of any epoxy you have on there. If you have the RodMaker issue with the PG grip coating technique, you're set. PermaGloss is super thin, super light and yet highly flexible while being extremely hard and durable. It's also water-white clear, forever. ................ Re: Perma gloss question

Sure, I put PG over West Systems epoxy on my carbon grips all the time.

Like Tom say''s PG is the ideal thing to put over wooden grips but PG is very hot and will blister most epox'sy like Flex Coat and TM so like Tom say's you must first remove any epoxy before using PG and never put PG over any dried epoxy at all,NEVER! Glenn McMurrian Re: Perma gloss question

Hi Mike,
That's not bad. Less than 11/2 hours to get a good answer to your question. Another reason why this forum is such a great place. Hats off to Mr T again. ESFNEM Col Port Kembla, NSW Australia Re: Perma gloss question

I could be wrong but I don't recall Tom saying anything about NOT putting PG over epoxy.. He said that there is nothing to gain by it! If you can apply it to bare blanks and thread, I don't understand why it shouldn't be applied over epoxy. I certainly could be wrong but this is the first time I have heard of that. Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! Re: Perma gloss question

I just wanted to do the entire butt section in the PG from grip to grip and it all have the same hard shell. No biggie if it won't work. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
