Hello all,
I'm interested in possibly building my own line guides with agate inserts. I see where agate inserts are advertised to be sold separately. Does anybody know... A) Are agate inserts bonded and / or crimped in place in the lineguide frames? And is there special tooling available to do this? B) Does anyone know a source for purchasing the frames only... to install agate inserts into? C) Does anyone know a source for someone who does custom work... where I could specify size and material to get a matching set? D) I'm also looking for a source for gold plated casting rod tip tops (no agate), titanium frame casting rod tip-tops (no agate), nickel silver casting rod tip-tops (no agate), to match existing agate line guides commercially available. (The tip top can be with or without an agate insert; just looking to create a set with matching frames). Typical tube sizes are 5.5, 6.0 and 7.0 Any suggestions welcome. Thanks! They're bonded into the frame.

Is there a particular adhesive used to bond agate inserts? Re: Building agate guides - line guide frames, tooling

Most likely an epoxy.
