Does anyone make spinning reel seat in a smaller diameter than a size 16?? I am making an ultra light and wanted to try a small diameter grip.
I realize a Tennessee grip would be the easiest rout to obtain the end product, but would like to do a reel seat with epoxy ramps front and rear. Very minimalist. Thanks in advance. Josh Re: Small spinning reel seat??

Hi Josh,
Alps make a size 12 in their triseats but they are aluminium and may not be what your looking for in a ultra light. They're very good seats but expensive when compared to graphite. ESFNEM Col Port Kembla, NSW Australia Re: Small spinning reel seat??

Josh,
How about a fly rod reel seat? Smaller in diameter and a ton of choices. Re: Small spinning reel seat??

Yes - the Pac Bay A5 fly seat would work well and it's really slim. You could go with the rosewood body or just get the hardware and turn a cork body.
Spinning seats smaller than a 16 I have not seen. Be aware that going to small may not end up being too comfortable to fish. I am building a few UL's for myself and they will have 17 mm seats for comfort. Thanks - Marc Keep it simple - that's all I can handle! Re: Small spinning reel seat??

I'd try out the reel in the reel seat before installing the seat. Seems logical, but that was another lesson hard earned for me.... Re: Small spinning reel seat??

I'd go the plate seat route as a spinning reel foot won't fit a A 5 fly hardware without some serious modifications to the reel. I go big 18 mm + on my UL builds as I find it more comfortable as mentioned above. Re: Small spinning reel seat??

Hi Josh,
For my last rods I use Fuji VSS16 reel seats, with 13 mm I.D. I use them for UL rods. evend for medium power rods, and after about two years of their use, I could say that it's very light and confortable to use. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
