line slap

have anyone had a problem with line slappng blank when retrieving on slack line? I have move the first guide from 17 to 23inches from front of spool and is all the same. fist guide is 30 then steps down to a 10

it is a 6'6" ml blank with a 2500 sahara reel

Round off the blank to a 7 and then do you have At least 9 guides ??

I just built a 6'6" SCIII and have the same reel (6# Trilene) but have no problems with line slapping the blank whatsoever. Here is the guide placement and (guide sizes) I used - measured from the tip top:

TT
4" (7)
9" (8)
15" (10)
22.5" (16)
31.5" (20)
42.5" (30)

These are Fuji (LVSG) Gunsmoke Stainless , SiC Guides

The top of the reel to the first guide measures 24 1/2"

When there is no tension on the line, it tends to billow out and slap the blank. If you adjust your guides to stop it, you'll most likely upset the more important characteristics such as casting and fish fighting.

There is nothing wrong at all with line slap on a slack line.

Line slap would be a problem if it were happening on the cast - it will rob distance. Slack line retrieve is no problem.

no slap on cast only on slack line. just wondered about the slap but after thinking about it who fights a fish on slack line lol. thanks again

If your line has any memory to it, the lack of any tension can cause it to coil a bit creating the line slap.
