Hello Everyone

I'm constructing some weave charts and left lists,(1 dragon & 1 Marlin) I saw somewhere how many threads per inch and have forgotten where.
Could some one assist me with this?

Thanks for any help.
Everyone have a good & safe weekend!

Bob,

New Bern, NC.

draw a line along the axis of the blank. Make a wrap 1" long, count how many times the thread crosses that line. The number will probably varydepending on how much tension youuse and how well you pack the thread as you are wrapping.

Hello All.

Thanks Billy, I think I'm going to do that with A, C, D & E on a 1" dowel and keep it in the shop to remind me.
Hi Raymond Thanks, that got me started on this project as I am at work and none of my stuff here except pencel, paper ruler & my loose noggin.

Thanks again guy's.

If I am not mistaken both David Boyles and Owen Dares programs have those stats in them though they are likely in mm.

Hello Doc

I do all my charts by hand on graph paper, as I have no computer at home.
One of these day's I'll break down and get a home computer but have not as yet.
May I ask you this "How long are your Blue Marlins on say a 1.18in(30.2mm) dia. rod as compared to one done on a 1in(25.4mm) or a .873in(22.8mm) dia. rod?"

Thanks Doc!

Bob,

New Bern, NC.

Bob how long they are has little or nothing to do with the Diameter of the rod. It is all about the pattern thread size and Wrap thread size of which the wrap thread size has the biggest impact.

Simple

get a piece of scarp blank the same size -- Measure off like said 1 " wrap pack Burnish
Then count the threads

Hello All

Thanks for the info guy's.
Everyone in this place is great.

Doc, yes Doc I understand that but I was asking(rather poorly) about size of weave compared to dia of rod for the symmetry, your weaves always seem to be the right length to dia of rod.

Bill, sounds good.
Thanks again to every on the site, it's a group effort and thats whats so great about the people on this site. Thight Wraps to all!

Bob,

New Bern, NC.

Hi,
This is the data I have in VisualWEAVE.

00 - silk ~ 0.125
00 - Reg Nylon ~ 0.113
A - Reg Nylon ~ 0.175
A - NCP ~ 0.175
A - HT Metallic ~ 0.150
C - NCP ~ 0.260
C - Trimar ~ 0.260
D - Regular Nylon ~ 0.260
D - NCP ~ 0.330
D - HT Metallic ~ 0.260
E - Regular Nylon ~ 0.330

The numbers represent thread diameter in mm.
To convert to Threads per Inch: Divide 25.4 by the diameter of the thread in mm
e.g. "C NCP" has a dia of approx 0.260, so threads per inch will be 25.4/0.260 = 98

Be aware that different brands of thread may be slightly different sizes, and the amount of tension used affects the thread diameter as well. I asked a number of people to send me their thread sizes when writing the software, and everyone sent me something different :-)

The VisualWEAVE software helps you size the pattern so it sits nicely on the rod by taking into account rod diameter and thread sizes.
