Guide placement?

Hi All
I have a RX6-2 905 (blue) that I'm about to build and was wondering if any one remembers their guide spacing on this blank. I looked at three different charts and came away with three different placements. Normaly I would just pick one and run with it but I'd like to see other setups. I know I need to learn how to test the guide placement for myself but right now I'm still trying to get my wraps and finish to look presentable. Thank you in advance for any and all help Scott Re: Guide placement?

I still think you should try static guide placement for yourself. There is an article in the library describing it. It was easy enough for me to follow my first time out. Re: Guide placement?

Scott,
Simply put, place a guide any where the blank is bending and you need to keep the line close to the blank. If the line stays close to the blank when bent, you don't need a guide at that location. If the blank is thick and doesn't bend, the guides are far apart. If the blank is thin and bends a lot, the guides will be close together. As has been published many times before - start with the guides near the butt at a foot apart and the guides near the tip at 6 inches apart and move, add or delete guides as necessary from that point. Basically use as few and as light as guides as possible and still have the type fishing rod that you intend to build. Extra guides do nothing for the rod except to add weight. Guides that are larger than necessary simply add additional weight as well. Good luck Roger Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 05/04/2012 10:32AM by roger wilson.
