I have been working on another set of carbon fiber handles and applied my 2nd coat of epoxy last night. I didnt get any fish eyes but it appears that a few bubbles were coming to the top as the epoxy was setting up. the bubbles popped but it must have been to late for the epoxy to flow and fill in.
Anything you can think of that I may have done wrong, or what to do to help not have this issue again. Since I still have another coat of epoxy to go it should not be an issue but I do not want this to happen on the final coat. thanks Re: Now a problem with bubbles !@#!$@#%$

Why are you top coating your handles with epoxy? As filler it's fine, and in which case the bubbles aren't going to matter as most of the epoxy will be sanded off. When you mix epoxy, you create bubbles and they're going to try and come out. If you're going to work with epoxy you're going to have to deal with the bubble issue.
Epoxy is not a good product for top coating your handles. ............ Re: Now a problem with bubbles !@#!$@#%$

You are correct this is being used as a filler. I was going to sand one more time then apply a final auto clear coat. My issue that I see is that the bubbles are pretty deep and I doubt I can sand them all the way out. So when I apply the clear im going to have a slight dimple. I can then probably wet sand the clear and recoat but I was hopeing to avoid that step. Re: Now a problem with bubbles !@#!$@#%$

The bubbles can't be any deeper than the surface of the carbon skin. So a couple coats of epoxy, sanded in-between, should leave you with a smooth surface with no bubble craters.

If the epoxy allowed the bubbles to pop it should have been liquid enough to flow in and level. I think you may have fish eyes from some kind of contamination. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
