Hello Tom.
I have a few questions about the 13 EXPO? 1. Where is the RodMaker Reception going to be? 2. Will there be a display case set-up like High Point? 3. You speak of a casting area, is it indoors, and is it long enough for a casting contest? 4. If it is indoors can we have a casting contest there on Friday?(no wind or rain to hinder us). 5. If we can not have a casting contest in the indoors venue is there another venue, either in or outdoors? Thanks for all you do for everyone Tom, and if you need anything let me know. The Reception will be in the Embassy Suites Hotel on Friday evening.
Not sure about a display case thus far. The indoor casting area will not be long enough for a casting contest. It is set up so potential customers can try out blanks and rods - similar to what you see at general fishing and fly fishing shows. It's not for casting great distances nor would we want to do that since folks will be moving around on all sides of the casting area. There isn't likely to be anywhere outdoors to do any distance casting. More details will be provided as they become available. Thanks. ................... Re: Tom, EXPO Questions.

Most likely they'll seat the same number of people, or a few more. The rooms will be inclosed and set back from the hall as much as possible to reduce noise. We'll have audio-visual gear as usual, of course.

I'm already looking forward to helping you give out the door prizes again.
As great as the 2012 Expo was I know you'll top it in 2013. Winston-Salem will be great for dining too. Dave Re: Tom, EXPO Questions.

robert, there is an open field about a block away that i am sure could be used to have a casting contest. I think everyone will be pleased that there will be more options for eating and things to do within walking distance. it will be a nice change for the show Re: Tom, EXPO Questions.

Maybe a short-range (underhand) accuracy contest? ;) _________________________________________ "Angling is extremely time consuming. That's sort of the whole point." - Thomas McGuane Re: Tom, EXPO Questions.

I will check when i go back to work. I don't think there would be any issues with trespassing. There are also several large churches with parking lots within a block or two that would suffice for your needs. Re: Tom, EXPO Questions.

Tom;
Have you consider any kind of excursion (tour, tea, gathering etc.) for the wives IF they are not involved with the rod building? Re: Tom, EXPO Questions.

I can't really set up an excursion for hundreds (or more) wives. The Expo is just too large for that sort of thing. We're not talking about a small regional event where you're dealing with a dozen or so wives.
Winston-Salem is filled with museums, shops, art galleries, etc., all within walking distance of the Expo location. "Old Salem" is one of the most unique living history sites in the Nation. It's also within walking distance of downtown. Anyone that can't find something to do in downtown Winston Salem just isn't looking very hard.As I update the website next month, I'll add some of the local attractions to a page there. .............. Tom;
Thanks for you reply. I was just looking for a way for the ladies to be able to meet some of the others involve in rodbuilding. Just a thought. Re: Tom, EXPO Questions.

They'll easily bump into each other at the Expo. There's plenty of them there.

Hello John.
Thanks John, next time I go by Tom's I will take a side trip to look the area over. The last two years the wind blew so bad the contest would not work. 2012 was windy Friday and came down Saturday maybe 2013 will be a better year. Thanks again. Bob, New Bern, NC.
