Bubbles In CP

Hi All,

When I checked my wraps this AM I found that last night's last application of CP dried badly bubbled. I guess I must have shaken it before applying although I was careful not to. Is there any way to get these bubbles out.

Many Thanks.

Unfortunately not. There are 2 or 3 posts exactly like this from this year. One of them was posted by Neil Sanft and he chimed back in after he tried fixing the problem. Search the arvices and it should pop up, lots of info in that post.

Bill

No guarantee here but check the bottle to see if the CP can be thinned or what the - clean up with - is
Then try putting a coat of that over one guide It May thin it and let the bubbles release
Just a shot

I have done this with water based CP

I had good luck the other day by cutting the bubbles out and re applying. It came out looking pretty good. I was using Chromaseal.

Bill -

If you used Chromaseal then no there is no way to get the bubbles out that I am aware of. I tried different approaches but nothing worked. Bubbles form not only from shaking the bottle but also by applying too much. Make sure you wick off the excess before it drys or you will have bubbles/white spots.

Good luck but don't waste alot of your time trying to fix it since you will probably end up with the same result. If you happen to figure out a way to correct the issue please post it for the rest of us to know.

Thanks
Neil

That is why I went back to Flex-coat If I had a problem i put a coat of water on
It thinned it and helped the bubbles release
But then i do not get the White Spots I thin it just a little and then put on several coats
Then on A size thread two wet coats works well D maybe three

Works for me

Stir chromaseal, saturate the wraps and remove excess, if there's still a few bubbles forming just use a damp brush to touch them, giving a little stroke here and there to remove them. Keep inspecting for a little longer until your satisfied that they're all out, then put it to the side to completely dry, or turn it on your dryer if you prefer. Then do two more coats, allowing the third coat to dry for 24 hours before applying finish.

Thanks guys. I was using Flex Coat but nothing worked. I stripped the guides off and started all over again.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
