I'll be building a spinning rod for walleye. Can anyone suggest a blank? I'm looking for med. light to light with fast to ultra fast action, 8' to 9'. Already searchrd MHX. Should I dgo to a fly rod blank. Trying to maximize casting distance and "sensitivity". Thanks guys/gals. Re: Spinning for Walleye

Look at the Batson IST 993F, 8 ft 3 in., 6 to 10 lb line rating, fast tipped. Fly blanks are usually slower actioned than gear blanks, Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 03/29/2012 10:28AM by Spencer Phipps. Re: Spinning for Walleye

I like the SCIII 3S76MLF. Not quite 8 feet but close.

You may want to check into a hotshot blank.
Or try extending a SJ9000-MHX. What are you trying to do with this rod?(live bait, cast cranks, pitch jigs, rigging?) Re: Spinning for Walleye

North Fork's SSP 767-1. You can extend it if you really need to be at 8' or over.

As Josh says, you really need to define what your are planning to do with the rod. "Walleye" could mean almost anything, and recommendations will be what the recommenders interpret as the use of the rod, probably not what you intend. You say fast or ultra fast, and ask about a fly blank, yet I really don't think there is a fly blank that is what you mean by fast or ultra
fast. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
